What is natural rubber?
Natural rubber comes from a tree species named Hevea brasiliensis, also known as the 'rubber' or 'gum' tree. The rubber is formed from a milky, white liquid called latex that is extracted from the tree.
Are natural rubber teethers safe?
Absolutely! Safety is our number one priority here at Bean & Fox. All of our natural rubber teething toys are CE tested to EN-71-1 European standards. They don't contain small parts and are painted with food-grade paints free from nasties and are entirely safe for babies to mouth. Always examine our teethers before use and discard at the first sign of damage.
At what age are natural rubber teething toys suitable?
Our rubber teething toys are suitable from birth.
Why are natural rubber teethers so effective?
Hevea rubber is an excellent material for teething toys. It is soft and malleable, perfect for massaging and relieving sore gums. Its rubbery texture is also easy for little fingers to grasp. All of our natural rubber teethers come in a cute character that your baby will love. Alongside relief from teething, they also make great sensory toys and help your baby develop their motor skills when they start to reach and grab.
How do I clean my natural rubber teether?
To clean your rubber teething toy, wash with water and mild soap and air dry. Please do not use any chemicals on our teething toys or put them in the dishwasher as this may damage the toy.
Can I cool the teether before giving it to my baby?
We recommend that our rubber teethers are not put in the fridge or freezer due to possible damage to the natural rubber material. Hevea rubber is naturally cooling on the gums and therefore should be just as effective at room temperature. Don't expose our rubber teethers to direct sunlight or a direct source of heat.
Are natural rubber toys suitable for babies with allergies?
Our natural rubber teethers should not be given to a baby with known allergies to latex. If in doubt, consult with a medical professional.
I've received my toy, and it has some imperfections. Is that normal?
Our toys are handmade and hand-painted by skilled artisans using natural rubber. You may find that there are some imperfections in your toy's texture or colour. These imperfections are normal and are part of what makes your toy unique.
Can I recycle my natural rubber teether?
Natural Hevea rubber is fully biodegradable and therefore can be disposed of as organic waste at its end of life.
